It'll take it, and ask for more.

Years ago, I loaded some .41 Mags for a buddy of mine that had a 57; he bought me a set of dies, components, etc.....let's just say, they bordered on "tactical nuclear".

Hey, he WANTED them like that, and it was HIS revolver! Even though they were "pushing the envelope", the revolver was none the worse for wear. After firing a box or two of those, he settled down, and requested some light loads for plinking, and some stouter loads for self-defense.

    Nice Score!

thats cool, I just remember that the early 29's had issues with the heavy 44 loads until they outfitted them with the hd package so I wasnt sure about the 41 mag. I am really looking forward to shooting this. I hate to say it but this will make 4 guns recently added to my collection that I have yet to even fire

Yea, but think of the fun you will have when you get to pull the trigger(s). Pun Intended.

It's my understanding that all factory produced ammunition cannot exceed the pressures as proscribed by the gun mfgrs. for any caliber / gauge of firearm produced. They know that there are still plenty of older guns out there that are not as strong as their modern counterparts. Just think of the .45 Long Colt or the 45-70 Govt. If you own a newer, stronger gun in one of those calibers, you'd have to handload to get a higher performance round. Have fun with your new .41 mag. and blast away!

The gun will take it, but I have found I shoot mine a lot more with toned down reloads. The 215 gr. cast sized .410 with 6 grains of Trail Boss is an accurate load in my Mod. 57 and a lot more fun to shoot. Those hot factory rounds are real rockets.

for the most part I prefer to shoot the moderate loads that are more accurate, but of course from time to time those "rockets" are such a blast to toy with. As a non-handloader at present, I will just be testing the waters on most of the 41 cal out there that I can simply purchase. Of course since the 41 is a handloaders toy mostly, its not something that will see tons of range time, I have plenty of other cal's that I can take there and punch holes in paper with.
Thanks for all the great responses so far.
