It would be a good price here, however prices vary w/ location.
Friend just offered me $400 - for my smith model 10-5 - circa 1975-76 - Pachmayr grip - safariland holster - custom trigger work - 3 HKS speedloaders ... Gun is in great condition .... does it seem like a fair price?

"He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment & buy one" Jesus - Luke 22:36
It would be a fair price in the Middle Tennessee area. You did not mention the original grips, the Pachmayrs would not off-set their absence.
Around here that model in excellent condition would get get that...the amount those old revolvers bring now surprises when when I remember between 5 and 10 years ago they went for half that.
U. S. debt explained...Let's say, you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood......and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceiling.
What do you think you should do?
Raise the ceiling or pump out the crap?
It's true Wendy! Maybe 10 or so years ago, I bought a NIB 2" M10-7 .38 Spl. for less then half the price. Nobody wanted them, either. Now.....a good used M-10 goes for $400! A good gun is always a good gun.......and worth what it costs.I often wonder, if a new modern 'plastic 9mm. pistol' might be a better choice, for the same $400. If it's to be a carry gun......it may be a better choice. Bob

Yesterday at the Gun Show in Mesquite, Texas, even "beater" type (and I mean beat!) Model 10s were $375 or pushing 4 bills. The really nice ones were more, and I shopped the entire show. Add your "extras" and I'll guarantee you it would go for more in these parts. Less than 2 years ago you could pick up a really nice Model 10 or old Hand Ejector for sometimes way under $300. Times, grocery, and gas prices are a' changing.....
Thanks all .... Think I'll hold on the the 10-5 .... something about the heavy barrel and the nice trigger job on it that I can't give up ....
No - the 10-5 isn't for carry .... it's the house gun .... son-in-law - former colorado springs patrol officer - convinced my wife she should have a revolver in the house - for reliability .. and I agree with him .... thinking about getting a .380 bodyguard to carry - or a compact 9mm
It's not a bad price.

A M-10 does make a good house gun. Powerful enough to do the job, without causeing a lot of collateral damage.......and destroying your hearing! For a pocket carry gun, I've been looking at the new Rugers in .380 and 9 mm., because of their small size and light weight. The old M-36 usually rides in a holster. Bob
