I like that Model 19, 1911...............good catch Amigo.
Enjoy it in good health,
Geezer
The LGS finally let me take this home.He bought it from the widow of an active SS guy (he was active in 1981). He never fired it.
It's a 1981 US Secret Service Commemorative 19-5 4". S&W made ~2000 for active or retired USSS guys in 1981. Don't ask me why it's marked "1865-1965" and made in 1981?
You can see the target stock, the target hammer, the target trigger, the red front sight, and it has a white outline on the rear blade. You can see the wood box.
I apologize for the poor pictures (my main light failed today):
He also had about 15 other older S&W pistols. One almost also went home with me: A M&P .38 special (the one before the Model 10). It just had a little outer blue finish damage (probably because someone stored it in a holster with the wicked gun cleaning stuff of the 1940-1950's). It was $450.

If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen are defrocked, shouldn't it follow that cowboys would be deranged?
WOW, that's nice! A friend at work just purchased a 50 year Arizona Highway Patrol 1931-1981 commemorative set: Ruger Mini-14 with a Model 66 4" revolver, along with accessories, circa 1981. His came from the family of the late AZ DPS officer who had purchased it on the job. I'm always surpised to see that these don't demand more of a collector price considering the inflation on all guns in general, but it does leave opportunities for guys like me that are looking! Nice score sir, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Old Geezer,
I also like the 19. It just speaks to me.
Here is my other one.
The 4" barrel, red ramp, counterbored cylinder (pinned), target trigger, and nice target grips just say "take me home".I am looking for a ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) Model 19. They made 1000 of them in 1965. And/or the NIS (Naval Intelligence Service) 19 would do (200 in 1966, with a yellow ramp). If you see one FS, please give me a "heads-up". Thanks.
Cheers,

Nice ...I'am looking for a nice 19 myself at this time.....good job 1911...........
I love model 19's, and 66's. Having a commerative makes it even more special. Knowing it's history is even better.
That was a really excellent find. I'm sure you took the time to thank your local pusher for feeding the hollow in your collection too.
Nice addition.

When they come for your guns, give them the ammo first!
My firearms are an investment on my life.
When the time comes that I don't want a new gun, call the undertaker!
The average response time for 911 is 20 min., the average response time for a .357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Nice guns there Doc. The SS model is really a great looking revolver. Enjoy!

I think it looks great...you did very well there!
Proposing gun bans to prevent crime is like trying to prevent drunk driving by not allowing sober people to own cars.
Great looking 19!
When I was young my Mother told me I could be anyone I wanted to be. Turns out the police call that 'Identity Theft.'
That is a nice catch. Thanks for sharing it with us.
