    Model 14 with 4-inch barrel

A friend of mine picked up a Model 14 with a 4-inch heavy barrel. I know there were some 4-inch barreled guns and I heard some were marked for the Air Force, but where on these guns are the markings, and if it is a true 4-inch gun from either the Air Force or Dayton, OH PD how much is it worth? He has to get me the serial numbers later so I can see if it is one of the true 4-inch guns.

The Dayton guns are bringing $500-$600.

Model 14 was a .38 Special with adjustable sights, but with a long barrel (6"?) for target shooting, right? So what would be the difference between a Model 14 with a 4" and a model 15?

BTW, saw a gorgeous Model 14 at a local gun shop for ~$650 a couple of months ago. At the time I forgot to check and see if it was pinned or not, so I can't say what vintage it was.

The difference would be the front sight just like the 15 is a k-38 combat masterpiece and the model 14 is the k-38 target masterpiece with a partidge front sight instead of the ramped front sight of the 15 that slides in and out of a holster easily. They are basicly the same gun.A model 19 is a model 15 that shoots 357 magnum and they are all model tens with fancy barrels and sights etc.

I got off the phone with the owner, it is indeed a 14-1 and the serial number is K4537XX. The front sight is a standard ramp on a heavy barrel.

That is an oldie. The 'Bible' says it was made in 1961.
