    Arrow S&W 32 cal. 5 shot revolver

I was given this revolver by a friend of mine, and I would like to know a little more about it. the number that is stamped on the butt, is181758 and a star after it. the trade mark is stamped on the right side oIf the frame just above and to the right of the grip. It is stamped 32 S&W CTG on the left side of the barrel, and is stamped Smith and Wesson Springfield Mass USA, on the barrel ridge. Any information about it would be appreciated. Happy

    Hi Happydad,
I would assume that your gun is a break top. The most common is the 32 Double action or the 32 safety hammerless with the safety bar on the back of the grip.

If there is a patent date, it would help identify your gun. I have one that is called a model 1 1/2 that is a top break gun, chambered for 32 S&W. I believe the last patent date was 1878. I have another that is also called a model 1 1/2 that is a tip-up chambered for 32 rimfire. Apparently in the early days the frame size was used as the model or number designation.

Is it the double action with the exposed hammer or the safety hammerless????
The blue guns are fewer than the nickel.
The serial number on the cylinder should be the same as on the butt
    181758?
If it is a double action it is a a 32 double action 4 th model made between 1883-1909.
If it is a safety hammerless with the grip safety it is a 32 Safety Hammerless 3rd Model manufactured between 1909-1937.
