Well, here's a 1917 that shipped in January of 1918. I've posted it here before, but 1917s have an appeal that bears revisiting.
Nobody worked on this gun except Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson. It has pretty much looked this way for 92 years.
I thought Indy carried a top-break Webley or something like that. Am I wrong? It would be cooler if he had a 1917 or some other early N-frame, but I'm not sure that he did.

Steve,
This is my M1917 shooter. It was my first S&W and was picked up at an auction this past March. It's had some modifications to sights, hammer , trigger and grip otherwise probably would have gone for more than I could bid! It shoots surprisingly well through a less than perfect bore. I also now realize that at least the frame was reblued after the sights were altered. Don't know who did the work. Was probably done years ago by a local smith. Pa is full of them but I'm afraid that even here they are becoming a dying breed. Love shooting it and get a kick out of the history behind these old N frames.
It's my understanding that the Indie movies used both a S&W 1917 and a Webley when filming. I think they wanted the 'character' that came with a big bore revolver dangling from a lanyard!

In Raiders of the lost Ark, Indy used two different 2nd model hand ejectors. The first was a 1917 and the 2nd was a Mk-ll Hand Ejector in 455 caliber. Both were modified with shorter barrels. Indy also used a Browning Hi Power in the gunfight in Tibet. - Hank
A Mk-ll Hand Ejector in 455 caliber from 1914.

Here we go, to that thrilling year 1926...
It's a 'commercial' M-1917 that was shipped to the folks at Wolf and Klar.

S.B. you asked, so here is another shooter. Not as nice as Dave's or Don's but for 90 years plus it does good. The ammo pouch in the picture carries 18 rounds in three round spring steel clips.

Think you guys missed my point, I was wanting some customed 1917 or Brazilians(read barrels shortened).
