    Victory model ?

Just received this victory model from a family member and have a few questions. Appears to be original, except black pearl-like stocks (both broke at butt). 38 s&w special ctg. on barrel and patent #'s on top of barrel. serial # V630xx on butt, cylinder, barrel match. no lanyard loop but there is a hole in front of the # for lanyard (I think). 4" barrel lngth. Came in black leather holster w/ no markings. I'm not sure how to upload pics at this point, but I was wondering if someone out there might now anything about this model. DOB etc. (was told that it is a victory model because of the "V" in front of the serial) Thanks-Wrightway.

Yep, that's a Victory Model. Yep, that hole in the butt is for a lanyard ring. Nope, I don't know when it was made. Sometime during WWII, other than that, I don't know. I could look it up, but I'm too damned lazy. I'll leave that to someone who is a little more ambitious.

    Re: Victory model ?

Your Victory Model was shipped in approx. Sept 1942. If it has military proofs on it, it went to the military, if not, it probably went to the defense supply commission for shipment to a civiilan user, such as a police dept ot defense plant guard. Ed.
