    .22/32 hand ejector...

I'm not sure when this was manufactured, serial # is 472xxx. I inherited this gun and am considering selling it, but I don't know what to ask for it. It's in very good shape. I've attached some photos. Thanks for any input.

welcome to the forum! that is a beauty! it is a 22/32 heavy frame target model. i would loosely estimate its birthday sometime in 1925 or maybe 1926. from your pics, it appears to be a nice unmolested example of a fairly desireable gun. the last one i saw at a gunshow in that serial range was being offered for 600.00. it was still available when i left the show, but i think it would have moved for CLOSE to that price. it is always nice to actually handle and carefully look over an old gun before you have to start negotiating on price! but, i would think yours would sell immediately in the 450.00 range, fairly quickly in the 500-550 range, and if you are patient, would probably eventually bring northwards of 600/650.

good luck with the sale, and thanks for the great pics!

ar15ed, thanks for the fast reply. I've not been to a gun show before, but I plan to attend some soon. I also inherited a model 36, serial # 448xxx---any idea of its value? I have the original box for this one.DSCI1131.jpgDSCI1132.jpg

Those are both beautiful examples! Most of the 22/32 revolvers I've seen aren't anywhere near as nice as yours and sold in the $450-500 range. If in original condition yours could be worth double that to the right buyer. That model 36 is nice too. I believe it dates to the mid sixties. Personally, if I inherited a pair of guns like those I would not consider selling either of them. But if you do decide to sell you may want to consider posting them in the guns for sale section of this forum. Welcome and thank you for posting.

Your model 36 appears to have been made between 1962-1969. Value varies w/ location but would sell for about $450 here.

s&w started using the sculpted thumblatch, like yours, in 1967, and stopped using the "diamond" grips in 1968, so your 36 is right in that range. i agree on the 400-450 price range, around here.

It appears from your other posts that you have inherited a number of fine handguns. If it were me, I would not look that gift horse in the mouth but would treasure my inheritance. They are yours and you are free to do what you wish with them but it just seems a shame.

    Good luck.

You will be screwed out of your socks if you try to peddle them to vendors at a gun show. I agree with Forester, it would be shame to let a family heirloom get away.

If you decide to sell, look into selling here or other similar forums to get an honest price.
