Look again an 18 is .22 LR K-22 Combat Masterpiece. I guess you have a deep struck 9. Re-checked serial in SCSW, its 1950 range. I recommend you post pics some with the grips off and the concealed markings revealed. Something a bit off beat is going on here. Return to factory perhaps?

You sure about it being .357? Model 18-3 should be a K-22 (.22LR). Initial 1970 serial range K946392 -K999999. I'm looking at the S&W Standard Catalog, 3rd ed.
(If I had refreshed my screen, I would have seen Waidmann's post and wouldn't have bothered to look it up.)
What am I looking at incorrectly in SCSW? Dropped a digit duh!
