    What year was this made?

I have a S&W model CTG 5 shot .32 cal revolver (blued), top break, 3-1/2" barrel, with serial number 254xxx. It was my great grand fathers and he used it while serving as a walking boss for the state of Georgia chain gangs back in the 1920's and 30's. I know by the research that I've done it's a Lemon Squeezer but don't know the year or its value. It's in great shape and looks nice. No pitting and just a couple of small scratches, and yes it will dry fire and all part moves smooth. Can anyone help?

    Hi CaptKirk:

My book shows the Safety Hammerless (Lemon Squeezer) last sequence of serial numbers quits at appx 242981 in 1937. Are you sure you're reading the number correctly? Are you sure it's a Lemon Squeezer?

    Can you post a picture?

    Regards,

    Geezer

Yes I'm sure it's a lemon squeezer, and no I don't have a picture of it right now. The full serial number is 254756. I known it's a lemon squeezer due to the fact that it has the black plasitc facture grips and the safety is on the handle. Thank you for your responce and mybe this will help with the research.

S&W says mine that has SN # 258xxx was made in 1911. It is nickel with pearl grip and looks like new.

Sorry upon further review and with a better magnifier at a gun shop my serial # is: 238xxx. It was still made in 1911.

Very interesting. So we know the serial number range does go beyond what is listed in the book.

It may be worth your time and money, CaptKirk, to request a factory letter.
