Trijicon RMR Red Dots for the AR-15...

Hey everyone! So, as I am still very new to the world of shooting, any suggestions/comments are welcome! But I wanted to fill you in on my experiences thus far with a Triji Red Dot 3.5 MOA that I picked up for my MOE.

First of all, I went to the store the other day looking for an ACOG. I really like their setup, along with their durability. I've got Triji night sights on my M&P .40c and love em - so I figured I'd stick with the brand name. Anywho, on my last rifle sat a TA01NSN. Standard 4x32 with black crosshairs for daytime which glowed amber at night. And then with back up irons on top. Fun little scope, but I found myself liking my buddies BAC model more and more. There's something cool about that illuminated daytime reticle.

I first noticed the RMR though, where it's size (and lightweight properties) got gears in my head turning. I checked out the 6.5 MOA adjustable brightness model. Mounted it above the magazine well, looked through and was quite pleased at the ease of its use. EOTechs, Aimpoints and other red dots (from my previous experience) had very smalldots (1 MOA) which made distance shooting easier but fast target acquisition a bit dodgy. The 6.5 seemed a little overkill, so I figured why not try the 3.5 out?

That brings me to today. Just picked up my box from UPS and put the little RMR together. Just as I thought - I love it.

Now it's just a matter of topping it to my rifle and spending some time zeroing at the range. Unfortunately I'm waiting for S&W to fix/replace my upper or barrel since it shipped pretty far off from mechanical zero

It's gonna sit on top when it comes in - at least until I find another optic to take its place. There is this nifty 45 degree offset which allows you to have both. Optic on top - then cock your rifle to the side and you're shooting gangsta RMR style. Pics below.

Anywho, tell me what you guys think! Any experience with RMR's? What do you like/dislike?

    James

By the way these are not my pics. The first is what I'd like for my MOE to be one day (and two Class III's later). The second is of someone else's setup. Once I get my rifle back and get everything mounted I'll post some pics.

Who made the 45 degree offset sight setup?

Trijicon makes an offset adapter. I've seen one by Daniel Defense which lies at at 1 o clock angle. I think it's ideal if you already have a scope. I'm just gonna stick with the RMR on the RM34 riser for now.
