    Smith & Wesson M&P Sport

Whats up fellas? First post on here, been a S&W guy all my life. I bought the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 last year for some fun in the backyard and at the range. BUT ive always wanted a AR style rifle. I see that Smith & Wesson has come out with the M&P Sport so im definitely picking this up to add to my collection. I have a few questions for some of you and was hoping yall could help me out.

First im trying to locate one at the best possible deal so if anybody has any suggestions besides the usual Academy (mine has it for $649.99) that type of store I would love to hear some of the ideas.

Secondly I am definitely getting a EOTech sight but I dont have alot of experience with them so im looking for some suggestions. I would prefer just a good, sturdy model that works well with this rifle but there are many different models so im not sure if one is necessarily better with one style of gun, etc.

Third I was curious if you could replace the handrail with like a quadrail of some sort to add maybe a flashlight, etc.

Kind of a long first post but looking forward to any advice or suggestions I may get. Thanks and god bless.

The price at Academy is just about the best i've seen. I got mine (regular price $699) on sale at Cabela's for $629 (employee pricing coupon).

The hand guard is the first thing I changed. Very easy. Pull back the spring loaded retainer and snap out and snap in the replacement. Just make sure it is a "carbine" length hand
    guard.

EO Tech is the best. I went with the Sightmark. $99 compared to $400+. Going to the range this week to get it sighted in. I'll leave a report when I'm finished.

I just picked mine up on Thursday at a local store for $610, but there was 6 % sales tax on top. Hope to fire it today !
    My first rifle.
My gun store guy says there is a rail that can be added without having to replace anything for less than $25.

    Nole,

I have a Bushmaster, but the accessories generally fit any mil-spec-ish AR-15.
I like the Yankee Hill Machine 2-piece railed foregrip, and I have the EO-Tech that uses 2 AA batteries. It has a longer footprint than the "disc-type" battery model, so factor that into your decision. The light is a minimal Streamlight, and, is usually not mounted. The sling configuration lets the rifle hang in an qrientation that keeps it handy for easy shouldering.
An AR can get over-accessorized very quickly, adding weight and crippling the handling qualities. Other forum members have read this from me, before -- decide your purpose for your rifle and equip it accordingly, remembering that "less is more."

I have, since pic, added a Magpul angled-fore-grip (those rails can get abrasive!)

Welcome to a fine forum and enjoy!

I bought this UAG Quad Rail and it came with 12 rubber rail cover sections,I got it on Amazon for $39.95 and I love it...! All aluminum, fits like a glove....Amazon.com: UAG AR15 AR-15 M4 CARBINE RIFLE QUAD 4-WEAVER/PICATINNY RAIL ALUMINUM HANDGUARD+ COVERS: Sports & Outdoors....

I would highly suggest buying a reasonably priced Delta Ring Compression Tool though,to save on your hands, and to eliminate what can often turn into a two man job to change the handguard without the tool....

SeanTX, What type of scope is that? That's a piece of gear that looks like it could cost as much as the rifle!

I don't know if this is where I should be posting because it's my first attempt. I recently bought a new Smith & Wessen M/P 15 in 5.56 NATO from a local gun shop. I then purchased 1,000 rounds of 5,56 - 55 grain FMJBT from LuckyGunner.com I've only shot about 100 rounds thru the gun so far. The S&W M/P 15 handled those rounds extremly well &I"m real proud they hit what I was aiming at. Everything left me with a smile on my face. I'm looking forward to many years of shooting this combo!
