Thanks! I knew they had them but when it comes to getting screws for say target grips, they don't carry that length. There are several different length grip screws for different model guns and it seems Midway or Brownells doesn't have them in stock.
"out of stock" is pretty irritating when you look for parts.
I know try getting a free floating hammer nose and rivet. They are harder to find than the stock screws.

    Re: K frame Grip Screws?

So are you guy's confirming that these are 5-44? I thought they "Looked Like" 5-44 because my thread gauge only went down to 42TPI.

Great info here I have a McMasters 2 miles from my office. All you do is buy online and what you need is at "Will Call" within an hour. Terrific for any machinist.

I'm the owner of an Architectural Aluminum fabricating company but I personally make numerous shop fixtures, pro-type attachment hardware etc. on an old (1950) 9" South Bend lathe and a 1966 Bridgeport mill. Not running you down if you have a modern Chinese lathe or mill but I'm glad I found these two jewels on ebay a few years ago.

I bought a bench model "Grizzly" lathe and Mill about 10-12 years ago. I still use the bench sized mill in my basement workshop, the hi-lo gear change stuck, thankfully, in Hi Speed range within 6 months of buying it and the most used plastic levers eventually broke leaving just the machine screw that was inside. Great application for a "Mini-Vise grip" whick actually gives better leverage anyhow LOL!!

    Jamo,
You mentioned replacing the brass 'insert', the correct name is escutcheon. I've bought them from both Brownells & Midway along w/ screws to fit.

    Re: K frame Grip Screws?

    Right on Inginbro,

Brownells called it an escutcheon nut actually and it fits all wood gripped S&W revolvers. They had the grip screw too. I ordered both.

Oddly, they didn't have a 5-44 tap to clean out the escutcheon I have. They did have a 4-44 but I can see that is too small, has to be a size 5 but all they had was 5-40 and I have those taps. It's clearly a tighter thread than 40tpi.

The 5 x 44 tap at brownell's is/was part # 395-544-002 and is listed under wire gauge taps. It should be the correct size for the escutcheon in question. Hope this helps.
