    S&W 22A-1 problem

I recently bought a used 22A-1 22LR pistol. Loaded mag, jacked in a round and bang, first shot OK, then pulled trigger and NOTHING! Cleared round, Jacked in another and BANG! Pulled trigger - NOTHING! Gun not recocking after firing. What do I need to do? Any help will be greatly appreciated

I hat to repaet the question, but it's well worth asking again.
what different amoo have you tried to run thru it. Every brand and type will be handled differently in your new pistol. Most of these pistols seem to be fussy about the amo that'll run thru them consistantly.
Try Federal Champions, CCI mini-mags and some Winchester Supreme Elite if you can find it. These are the 3 ammo's that my 22A feeds reliably, every time.
It won't cycle any Thunderbolts or Cyclones that I've tried in it. I haven't yet tried any of the Winchester bulk ammo, but I would expect issues with it as well.
The more you pay for your ammo, the more consistant the quality control is, and the brass feeds better with much fewer issues.
You should have pretty good luck shooting any premium type of ammo.
Eley is about the best you can put thru it.

The 22-A was the second hand gun I bought approx 3 years ago. Never had this kind of issue. There was a recall from SW and I sent it back for the work, but never had a hiccup out of it before or after the recall work. It's the wife's favorite shooter at the range.

Assuming you checked the round that failed to fire and it had no imprint from the firing pin, then it is possible that the firing pin is broken or the sear is not engaging the pin. It's been a while since I had a 22A and I don't remember whether the slide can easily be stripped or not, but I'd check that fp first.
