    .22A Extraction/Ejection problems

I'm a little disappointed in the .22A I recently purchased - everything seems to feed fine, but I have had so many extraction/ejection problems (stovepipes, etc.) it's driving me mad! Failure rate is between 15 and 30 percent. I have tried different brands of ammo (Federal, Winchester, Remington, and yes, CCI mini mag), all with very similar results, I am right around the 700-800 rounds fired area.

Twice (early on) I even had a couple of cases that only came out of the barrel/breach part way, had to reach in a flip them the rest of the way out.

I've attached a couple of pics here - it looks to me like the extractor is actually hitting in the groove along side the barrel breach. Please forgive me if the terminology I'm using is off - I'm here to learn.

Seen anything like this before? Thanks for taking a look

    Rocker,

My 22A has between 1000-1500 through it now, and I pulled it out to take a look. It too is worn in the exact same area, so I don't think that is abnormal looking.

I do not have the same extraction issues you experience. We just ran 150 more rounds through it last weekend without any failures. Bottom line, something is wrong and you may not be able to visually see it. You should call S&W on your warranty and return it for a pro to evaluate.

Thanks Arty - Wow, I would have thought the wear/damage at that spot would be pretty rare, and an identifier of the problem. I figured I'd probably have to call c.s..

I also see my thread has been moved, sorry if I put this in the wrong forum

Tried another few hundred rounds, still not working. Contacted S&W, got a return label, and shipped it back.... 3 weeks ago, still waiting

Hopefully they can pinpoint the issue. Good luck.
