    Good gunsmith in north Florida

Anybody know of a good gunsmith in north or central Florida? I want to have my barrel cut down to 4 inches on my model 29 smith. Can someone give me a guesstimate on how much that would cost? The gun has a nickel finish.

In addition to having the barrel cut down and re-crowned, you will have to get the front sight remounted, and the entire gun refinished. I honestly believe you would do better to find a good nickle 29-2 in 4" and buy outright or trade your longer barrel gun. Otherwise, I would contact the S & W factory and see what they tell you. Best of luck in your project. I have a 4" nickle I bought in the late 70's. Wouldn't trade it for any other 29.

Don't know about custom work, but there's AW Petersons in Mt Dora. That's where my local supplier - er - gunshop sends their personal toys for work. Down side is they are 8+ weeks out. I'm waiting to get my 66-1 back from getting the spa treatment now.
