    Computer Attack

The last few days that I've come to this site, Norton has blocked an intrusion to my computer. Norton calls it "Malicious Toolkit Website 9" coming from s9rq1c.com/news (178.18.213.189). Anyone else noticed this attack?

My guess is someone hotlinked an image from an infected site into a thread here and thus it brought up a warning. I would need to know exactly what thread (and what page of that thread) you were on and I can look at the images users have posted to try and track it down, but I'm sure it's not anything on our site/server... 99% most likely content someone linked too.

I'll take note to mark where exactly I was at the next time it pops up.

    Hello All:

Last week I caught a virus/trojan somewhere on the net and had to have my computer cleaned-up by the Dell Support people (it was insideous and tough to get rid of)...........I hope that my machine didn't spread anything here via any of my posted photos.

    Regards,

    Geezer,

It would have to be spread by the actual webhost hosting the photos. A virus on your computer wouldn't affect anyone here so no sweat there

Yup....visiting those "gun porn" sites can be risky.....

Seriously, though, hope your PC gets back up to snuff quick, Bill.

    Thanks David (Doc):

I'm back up and running with my Dell laptop, but now I've messed up my stand-by (back-up) puter (older HP laptop). I tried reloading the HP Windows operating system (XP) and after being prompted to insert the 2nd disk, I received an error message stating that it couldn't find the file it was looking for. I then tried all the remaining disks to no avail........and now the machine won't even boot up.

Guess I'll have to take it in to Office Max or someplace such as that and have them reload the operating system (everything is backed up).

I've been using AVG (Pro Edition, Paid not free) and AdAware (free)...........I update the definitions daily too.

It's a jungle out there in Cyberland................

    Best Regards,

    Geeze
