Colt SA Scout Buntline 9 1/2"

    Yea, I don't much like the plastic grips. I'd never seen one with a 9 1/2" barrel. It's a "F" suffix.

    Doc ,

    That is a r e a l l y long barrel .

You're getting pretty close to the legal limit for a "handgun" in GA .

I believe it's up to 12" . And the long gun is 18" or longer .

So what is it if it is between 12 and 18 ??

    George,
    It's 12" max. for a handgun:
Handgun - A firearm of any description, loaded or unloaded, from which any shot, bullet, or other missile can be discharged by an action of an explosive where the length of the barrel, not including any revolving, detachable, or magazine breech, does not exceed 12 inches; provided, however, that the term 'handgun' shall not include a gun which discharges a single shot of .46 centimeters or less in diameter
Then some guns that look like a handgun could be a long gun.
Long gun - A firearm with a barrel length of at least 18 inches and overall length of at least 26 inches designed or made and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or made to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed...
I was a disappointed that the barrel had two small "rust-like" marks on it (from storage). I will try to get them cleaned off.

Here is my other Colt SA Scout.

    Have you bought anything lately?

    Doc ,

That SA is ........................ incredible .

Well not to let the cat out of the bag , but since we're talking Colts here - I have a very nice Lawman III on it's way . A snubby .
I'm not Colt crazy , but I have a pristine Detective Sp snubby and a shooter grade 1918 (or so) 4" Police Positive Special .38 .

Did you ever finalize a deal on a Argonne 1911 ?

    Regards ,

1911, who're you planning to take with you as a 'shoulder rest' when you shoot her?

Nice. I've always been on the lookout for a Lawman III or Trooper III. I have had an early 3rd issue Detective Special for many years.

I'm with you on the Police Positive .38 Special. I passed on one (a "D" 4") a couple of years ago because I thought it was too high. They are higher now.

Naw, I got outbid on the Argonne.

Just try to find a holster for it....

    Very nice.

The first thing that I need is wood grips for the revolver. I didn't know that they had plastic grips back in the 1960's.

Plastic on Colt 22 single actions from the late 50s to the mid 70s was the norm. But by standards of plastic, they were high quality.
They are not the hard, brittle junk that some of the after market stuff was made of. They are plastic, but they feel more like the
hard rubber grips you see on older colts. The wood grips were the ones that were out of the ordinary.

Here are a couple of other Colts with grips like yours.
One is a scout from 1959 and a New Frontier .22 from 1974.

    Colt Second Amendment .22
I once swore I would never own a gun that I didn`t shoot. But I`ve since made an exception for this one and a couple others.
