A Hog Killer? That 200 grain with 27.5 grains of H110 oughtta do the trick.....my pet load for my 29-2 6" is 23.8 grains of H110, but with a 240-grain HP bullet. The two deer I've taken with them didn't take a step.

Smile A little light unless you are close.

I had a friend that shot a 180gr at high velocity from a 44Mag once. Hit a big whitetail and it just shook it off and kept on going. I have been hog hunting on several occassions, not a lot, but several.

I have used a 44Mag on all hunts too, just fired from a Marlin 1894 though. My hunting load is one of two and the 180gr bullet isn't part of it. One load is a 250gr Keith LSWC over a full load of AA#9. That gives almost 1800fps from the 20" barrel. From my M629 Classic's 5" tube, I am getting right at 1300fps. It is not for wimps, that is for sure!

The other load, the one I used to use for my Marlin before I got lead to shoot well, is the same I use for my Encore Pro Hunter (now a S&W company). A 240gr XTP over a full load of WC820, my lot loads like a slow H110/W296 and it develops the same kinds of velocities from either firearm. Again, it is a handful from the revolver.

Personally, the 180gr is a little light for a hog, just me though. Shot placement is going to be the biggest thing though. Their kill zone is different than a deer so do some studying on their anatomy.

Hogs are a great hunt, that's for sure.

    Have fun and be safe.

Personally, I'd use something between 240 and 300 for tough animals.

+1 on 240gr. + either Jacketed or Hardcast

I would not load a Hollow Point, I prefer Hardcast with Large meplate on such game as Bear/Boar

I feel the same way about the hollow point on tougher animals. The Hornady XTP might be an exception for me as it doesn't seem to expand all that much, but really just enough (from what I hear). I'd feel really comfortable with either a 240 or 300 grain XTP sitting on top of some H110.

EX, you asked what's better for killing hogs ? ?

Sounds like you've pretty well got it covered . . .

I suppose a quad 50 on an M-4 mount would be better, but whereinhell you gonna get a holster for it ? ?
