Unofficial Product review - Kobalt Workbench , with pics

Well Mitt released his tax returns and I have also bowed to the will of the people .

I am posting a few pics of my humble work bench and it's adornments .

DocZeus threatened an investigation into my PAC fundraising if I didn't declare my expenditures and related acquisitions .
Personally , I think he's still smarting from that remark I made about his lifetime supply of duct tape on his workbench .

Now me , I have very few tools . I try to do more with less . The two that I use most often are right handy on top .

I find that a nice big hammer can solve jus about any problem w handgun functionality .
The pry bar is utilized for those pesky sideplates .

Back to the topic at hand , I took the easy way out and bought a stainless Kobalt workbench that is meeting my needs pretty well .

It is available at Lowes .

    - 5

The bench is in the stainless finish . It comes in a blue ( actually black enamel ) but I prefer the stainless look !
The stainless version also has a nicer butcher-block look counter top .
Other than that they are the same , so if price is an issue you would be fine w the blue type .

It has a decent O/H light and pegboard type back. And it's heavy duty .

There are 3 drawers w high quality drawer slides . Nice Kobalt logo blue drawer mats were included .

There's an O/H storage section w a full width lift up door that is quite handy for small supplies .

I also added some various stickers of gun manufacturers that I got a guy to make up to my size specs for me .
    There are Kahr Arms , Colt , Seecamp , Ruger , S & W , Springfield Armory , and Sig Sauer , in the correct colors .

I added a light strip to the lower shelf section , the same type as came w the bench .

There is an integrated power strip on the right side , so u can run power tools , etc - handy .

I recently added the additional magnifying hi-intensity swivel and adjustable lamp .
It does a great job of eliminating shadows when working on items .And the magnifier is quite handy .

Since the bench top did not extend past the frame I got a piece of maple and screwed it onto the existing countertop to mount the lamp .
It does the job . Nothing fancy .

I thought about getting the really nice , height adjustable $70 Kobalt stool . It's real spiffy .
    But instead I use a 20 year old 2 step metal step-stool . It's ugly , it's rusty , but most important of all - it's very comfy .

So , as regards the Kobalt Work Bench - 2 Thumbs Up !

Ck back real soon for some more insightful balderdash .

    Regards ,
    George

First line of defense , my faithful Pit - don't mess with Mr. Kane !

Lovin' it here in N. Ga - I wasn't born here , but I got here as fast as I could .
