How could you do it to man's best friend ?

These people think of their dog more as a walking , barking McDonald's Happy Meal , in a pinch . No toy included .

Mushroom pickers lost hope, considered eating dog - seattlepi.com

They spent the nights huddled in a hollow log and considered sacrificing their pit bull, Jesse, for food.
"She's that good a dog, she'd have done it, too," Conne said.

Are they implying that the dog would "take one for the team" ?

Maybe they been eatin too many of them wild mushrooms .

And I think they misunderstood that ol saying " all for one and one for all " .

Mr. Kane's a good dog too , but I do think he would resist if I thought about serving him up on a sizzling platter .

Now some of you wiseacres are gonna come on here and talk about them Koreans and such .
    And maybe they do .

Here Fido , come here boy , it's time for dinner .................................................. ..

My question is; why should the dog suffer because they were unequipped to go into an area they were not familiar with.

    Cool

They were idiots in the first place and definately eating to many "scrooms".

That dog was of more value in that situation alive then dead.

Warmth huddled together, early warning and protection.

My Jessie or Max would never be dinner.

    Cool

Jessie is a dog that I got a call on 13 years ago.

The call was a "pitbull" running loose in a neighborhood. She is a mix being mostly Staffordshire Terrier.

When I first saw her she was huddled under a commercial A/C system.

As I approched her she rolled over on her back giving me her stomach in a submissive posture.

She had scars all over her body and she had recently had a litter of pups that were not with her.

I got her to get into the back of my patrol unit by offering her a piece of a sandwich.

No tag. No collar. No chip. No one reporting her missing.

One of the K-9 officers told me the vet he used and I took her there and got her bathed and dipped (she was full of fleas) then took her home for the night.

When she walked in the door to my home she went right over to my wife who was sitting on the couch, got a pat on the head and fell asleep at my wife's feet.

She has been with us ever since. We got her spayed and had my wife's birthdate tatooed on Jessie for an ID.

Talking with knowledgeable folks we surmise she was used as a breeding and bait dog who was disgarded after welping her litter.

She is around 15 years old now and has been an absolute joy to our family. She has raised two rescued doberman's during her time with us.

The "devil cut" ears came already installed when she came into our lives.

    Regards,

    Ron and Jessie

After 6 nights they were hungry of course but starvation takes more like 30 days... the dog was likely the smartest one there - I hope he goes to live w/ people w/ functioning brains.

George, I've been meaning to tell you that Mr. Kane is one handsome guy, and Ron I think it's awesome you were able to rescue Jessie like that. These dogs have one of the worst, and undeserved, reputations. Below is a picture of Rhythm, a great dog that my family and I adopted from a local rescue organization a couple years ago. He is one of the friendliest, loving and playful dogs I've ever had. I can't say enough about these organizations that help pets find good homes.
