Get one for your scoped AR. It reduces recoil by about 50% while sending alot of noise forward. It does not suppress any sound, it just redirects it toward the target so percieved noise levels are less. The semi-auto 223 doesn't kick much to begin with but, with this do-dad, the gophers explode in the scope . It takes about 2 minutes to take the factory flash suppressor off and screw this one on. I used a pair of stainless pins inside the end and turned it with the handle of the wrench I used to unscrew the old one. If you do not have a scope on your AR, I'm sure you would see much advantage, the are better brakes that reduce percieved recoil but with some grand kids coming of age to shoot the AR, the sound redirection was the selling point.
