    New member from FL

Just joined the forum today. I have two S & W revolvers. First one, a model 36, purchased in NY in 1979, second, a model 66-1 6", purchased in NY in 1981. Both were purchased new, still have original boxes and all paperwork. Paid $250.00 for model 36 and $300.00 for model 66. Model 36 was my first handgun in a present collection of 6. Is anyone on here able to do serial # searches for manufacture dates?
Thanks for any info you can provide as I know this is a very common question.

    Welcome from Arizona!
Post your model & serial #'s along w/ any letter prefixes xing the last souple of digits. There's enough friendly folks around here w/ the book willing to check the manufacture dates.

    Re: New member from FL

Thanks for the welcome. My model 36 serial # is J6760XX and the model 66-1 serial # is 67K42XX. The model 66 is a 6". Any info is much appreciated. Smiths are my favorite revolvers. Never had an issue with either one. 66 is a nail driver and a better shot than I am. Will hand both down to my son and we still enjoy shooting them.

    Re: New member from FL

Thanks for the warm welcome. I realized from reading this forum that I dropped the ball back in the early 90's by not purchasing the 5906 I originally wanted. I didn't do too bad with my final choice since I bought the Beretta 92FS Inox back in 11/94. Has been flawless even when my son accidently loaded .380 cartridges into the magazine at the range. The only failure it ever had....lol...
