Lets see some pictures of your wheelguns.![]()
I've been reading these forums for a while and always seemed to find what I needed without having to join...until today. My dad just walked in the door and handed me 1 Colt & 2 S&W revolvers! He said they were his dad's and wanted me to have them. Very nice of him. I love to shoot but have always had autos and these will add a new dimension to my shooting experince. I would like to know about the guns though. The first is a Model 37 Airweight 38 special CTG sn#650458. I kinda like this one! Thinking of using it as my concealed carry...just gotta shoot it some first. The second is a stainless 38 S&W CTG special sn#526160. Havn't made my mind up about this one yet, but I am interested in shooting it. Any info/opinions on these 2 revolvers would be much appreciated.

Hello,
Are those numbers from the bottom of the rip frame, where the official serial number would be? If so, and there is no preceding letter code, the Model 37 would be between 1962 and 1969.
The other is likely a Military & Police (Pre Model 10) which dates from 1915-1945. Unfortunately, that is as narrow as it gets. Pictures would help, and confirmation of the actual serial numbers/letter prefix.

Storyteller,
Welcome to the forum from North Idaho.
Pictures would be a huge help in getting you more info..
Question--- Did you get the serial numbers off the grip butt?
There should be a letter prefix to both of these revolvers.
Also, if you open the cylinder and give us the full model number from the crane it'll help quite a bit as well.
It should look something like this: Mod 37-2, Mod 66-3 or something similar. There may or may not be a dash after the first model number, but there usually is.
The Model 37 is perfectly suited for concealed carry and will be an excellent shooter. With some solid practice you shoud be able to place nice groups at 25 yds and with some serious practice you shold be able to place consistantly on a silhouette target at 50 yds.
Since you've mentioned you already shoot semi pistols it shouldn't take much to become very comfortable and proficient with both of these shooters you've just inherited.
I hope to hear from you soon,

Those numbers are on the bottom of the butt... on the stainless one there is a # under the barrel v526160p. By the cylinder there is 73979. The model 37 has 27748 by the cylinder, also there looks like the #3 under that.

U. S. debt explained...Let's say, you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood......and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceiling.
What do you think you should do?
Raise the ceiling or pump out the crap?
