I know you can buy longarms in neighboring States (done it many times), but not handguns (without doing FFL transfer crap). But you are not allowed to buy one from several States away.
Hi everyone,
I am wondering about buying a rifle in other states specially the southern states.
Mainly I like to buy a 30-30 yes another 30-30 At the Cajun Pawn Store in Louisiana.
Yes that's one of the stops I am taking when I go meet a buddy I've known 3-4 years on facebook.
Now Here is the question.
I went to ebals in Michigan which is a meat market / gun store. And a gentleman wanted to buy a high powered rifle to bring back to Louisiana, however the owner of the store said no that's not possible.
He cannot simply bring a rifle purchased from Michigan back to Louisiana do to the gun rules.
So that's why question why couldn't he? and Why can't I?
I have 1 more question.
How come I bring my 22 henry and my 30-30 and a lot of ammo for both rifles over michigan state line to Louisiana? And go shooting for Swamp rats the Nutrient rats?

The asininity is palpable.

Well, it used to be that you could only buy a rifle/shotgun in a State that borders your own (no handguns across State lines at all without transferring to an FFL in your State). BUT, apparently, that has changed (?), as I am finding information that is telling me that you can purchase a long gun in any State IF the two States themselves allow it. So, perhaps Michigan and Louisiana don't have the proper agreement???
The asininity is palpable.
Michigan does not have any restrictions on where you purchase a long gun (rifle or shotgun) Some states do not allow any sales of any firearms to out of state residents. From what I have read Louisiana has no such restriction.
