    Bart Skelton

Has anyone ever read Bart Skelton's book? I have read some of his articles and although he is not quite the writer his father was, he's not bad in his own right.

    No David, I haven't.

However, I have read several articles that he's authored and I agree with you.

I have his book "Down of the Border" and I found the stories worthwhile. I follow him on Facebook, along with Sheriff Jim Wilson, Rob Leahy (Simply Rugged Holsters), and Grant Cunningham.

A friend of mine sent me his Down on the Border while I was training up at Ft. Bliss before heading to Iraq, it was definitely a good read for that period.

The trouble with being a Lawman/Gun writer related to a "Famous" Lawman/Gun Writer is that you will forever be "campared" to him; and in this case, found wanting.

Bart's a good writer, but his prose will never have the "Flavor" or "Charm" of his father's; nor will he have his father's charisma.

Skeeter was not only talented, but lived in a time memorialized as a romatic era.

From the cowboys to the depression era gangsters; America will never she their likes of again.

I've read his book. He describes things "down on the border" as they are, no romanticizing or "literary license" that I can tell, which is a big plus.
I wish he'd publish another. He tells things as they are.
    Good luck to him.

Others of course have different opinions. These above are mine.
