The NRA has had some spotty issues over the years.....but like Azmick says, at least they're doing SOMETHING to keep our 2A Rights.

And make no mistake, these politicians, even the far-left Schumer's and Al Gores, are AFRAID of the political clout that they wield, and the BIG PAC money they (we) represent. I think they've been a little too soft on some potential gun issues over the years, but overall, they've done okay. This election will be VERY critical for the Organizer In Chief, and if he gets re-elected, there will be NO impediment for him and his ilk starting some new gun-control issue.

"Fast and Furious" didn't quite work out the way they planned, so they'll find something else to latch onto, and if they can't FIND anything, they'll MANUFACTURE a crisis.....Bloomberg and Soros will see to that.

I have been an annual member for the past 32 years, and feel that EVERY gunowner should be a member, unless they belong to some other group, like GOAL. We all should be doing something to protect our 2ND Ammendment Rights! If we lose them.....it will be difficult to get them back, and there will be no stopping the anti-gun groups from getting our guns confiscated.

The 2nd....gives us the ability to rise up against a tyranical government, such as Obama's. If he gets a second term.....look out for attacks against the 2nd Ammendment to begin immediately! There is nothing that they fear more than.........the ability of the people to resist their "socialistic government". That is the first thing that "socialists" do.......whereever they gain control over the people! Bob

All well and good. BUTT did you read the March 2012 issue of the Rifleman? There is an interview with the Gunny. A person who feared the boy who would be king. The NRA has gone over to the other side. The Gunny is a coward for apologizing to the liar in charge. Thus I fear the NRA is also afraid.

I have been a Life member for well over 50 years, and recognize the NRA as the prime mover & shaker in defending the 2nd, but will quickly add, that as in any family, I have had disagreements with Mr LaPierre -- specifically over the magazine's portrayal of trophy hunting -- showing the classic picture of a guy packing out a trophy rack, leaving the question begging of "Where's the rest of the meat -- left to rot or for the buzzzards ? ?"

I know and so do the rest of us, that the picture was staged, and that the carcass was undoubtedly carried out, but the antis see only the pix of the one guy with a trophy and they spread the word about our wasteful mind sets and attitudes . . .

Their actions in failing to recognize this is, in a word, irresponsible . . .

I have no problem at all in displaying a memento of a memorable hunt, I have a rack or two around the house, but they were taken in fair chase and the meat was consumed and the hide utilized, but a blatant portrayal of a situation that can, will be, and has been, used against the hunting and shooting fraternity, with no thought as to its possible negative portrayal by the loyal opposition is, IMO, showing a disregard for the goals and principles for which the NRA should stand, and to glorify the killing of an animal simply for the trophy is not ennobling of the human condition, nor is it an attitude that should be applauded or emulated . . . .

Having said all the above, let me add that I have, and will continue to support the NRA with additional donations, "round-ups", and by word of mouth, but like any group, their halo wouldn't have to slip a lot more to turn into a noose . . .

I quit the NRA last year. The issue was throwing others under the bus to benefit themselves. That was the campaign finance issue reporting requirements. They should have fought that tooth and nail.

I joined Gun Owners of America.

I would caution against dissension within our ranks -- the opposition would love nothing more that to see us against each other, and while the NRA may not be perfect, it remains the primary defender of the 2nd.

Dividing to conquer is an old, but functioning ploy and it works . . .

Witness the division among veterans and the resultant lack of a single voice for the group -- we have been made to feel that each discrete group of veterans must have its own memorial, and the plethora of memorials has done nothing but weaken the position of the veterans, and those opposed to the group having any unity are the winners, hands down.

There is nothing so pathetic as a memorial when there is no one left to memorialize, and IMO, there should be ONE veterans memorial, for all veterans for all time, and ONE group that speaks for ALL veterans for ALL time, but presently, there is a WW-II, Korean, Vietnam, with sub-memorials in each group, Nurses, etc, , and in the next few years, the veterans position will be be further weakened by a memorial for Iraq, Afghanistan, etc . . .

Let us strive for unity, rather than divisiveness in our fight against the antis of the 2nd . . .

The reservations against the NRA for what they do in Sodom-On The Potomac, is understandable. It falls under the category of closely watching sausages being made with the object of eating them and being repelled by the process. If your principles will not allow you to be a member of the NRA, please support a pro-2A organization that would meet your expectations. This is too important a struggle to do nothing.
