    Green after Blue?

    After six years in the Air Force I figured I'd served my time for my country. Now that I've been out for a couple years, my interest has begun to peak regarding the Army Warrant Officer Program. Specifically, as a rotary wing pilot. When I separated, I jumped right on the GI Bill and put myself through civilian flight training. Completed my Private, Instrument and Commercial ratings - now in Florida finishing up CFI. While instructing sounds like a blast, jumping back into a full fledged military career with all the benefits sounds just as if not more promising.

    I am curious if there are any current or prior Warrant Officers on the forum - maybe you have a bit of guidance.

    Or maybe this thread will spark someone else's interest...

    James,

    I'm an old sailor, so I have no dog in this hunt. However, the Army rotary-wing types I have encountered, all seemed to have enjoyed Ft. Rucker, and I was very pleased with their "stick" talents on every occasion.
    Your plan sounds like a blast. Good luck!

    James;
    Here is the Army Warrant webpage for non-Army personnel, U.S. Army Recruiting Command's Warrant Officer Recruiting Information Site , in the first paragraph it states civilian personnel need to see their local recruiter. I know while the war was in full swing they use to have a special application process for civilian aviators....but budget cuts, etc... Take a look and then call the local recruiter is my advice. BTW and FWIW, we call airdales "aviators" not pilots Good luck.

    I had the opportunity to work with a number of WO aviators that flew Cobras while I was a lowly Spec4 in the Army. Some of the coolest guys I've ever been around. In fact, Warrant Officers were sort of a breed all their own. I remember thinking "Now that's what I shoulda done!".

    I say go for it!

    The Army W.O. is so very different than the Marines. With the Army W.O.'s are mostly pilots, with the Marines W.O.'s are enlisted men with 25-30 years in service and the rank is more a title than anything.

    James, I wish you the best of luck in your career path.

    If you've got college behind you, you might wanna consider OCS too.

    Same fun flying, better pay and bennies.

    OH' 3-11....FWIW the Army has a myriad of WO positions. All technical jobs have warrants...pretty much anything outside of Infantry which I believe is different than the Corps(Artillery even has them)...personnel, mechanics, truck drivers, computers, boats (cause they say we got more than the Navy), etc...even us LE guys The Army doesn't restrict the WO to aviation. WOs in the Army are suppose to be the technical expert in their fields.

    Best of luck in your endeavors!
    U. S. debt explained...Let's say, you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood......and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceiling.
    What do you think you should do?
    Raise the ceiling or pump out the crap?
