    Grandpas Knife

031.jpg My Mohawk Grandfather aqiured this old knife when he bought a house in the 1940's. It has an 11 1/2" blade & is stamped w/ the name 'Horn' inside of a diamond. It had been sent to the previous owner by his son (who was a missionary in the Phillipines) & the attached letter said it was taken from a headhunter. Grandpa kept it by the back door 'just in case' anyone was dumb enough to come in uninvited... you can imagine the look on a salesmans face when a 200 lb. Mohawk appeared @ the door w/ this in hand! After Grandpa passed on Mom took it home, named it her "delicate persuader" & kept it by her back door 'just in case'... Years ago about 1/2" of the edge was ground off to remove a large nick (I always wondered how that got in it but no ones talking); the original wooden handle rotted off & I replaced it about 15 years ago. Mom sent it to my wife 'just in case' (just in case her S&W & shotgun aren't enough) & it now hangs by our back door. For some reason most folks call before they drop in...

That is about 2 feet longer than a knife, and a foot short of a machete.

    HA-HA

Yep, 12 ga. pump shotgun behind the shop door, ice pick stuck in door frame, bayonet hanging inside over shop door, pistol in coverall pocket, infra-red sensor at property gate line, extremely large and darn good dog laying just outside as a back-up system, and they'd have to be a better "injun" than I am to sneak up through the surrounding open fields. And that's just the shop. The ante goes WAY up on the house systems...... I'm not paranoid. I just don't stand for any B.S., try to be a good citizen, and am at the age that if I want to talk to a stranger, I'll go find one. (Ain't solar power great? - Unless the govt.'s developing it......).

Nice Blade, Injunbro....Oughtta "tickle their fancy".

Here's the best way to keep "unwanted guests" away, a scene from the movie "Secondhand Lions":

Best movie I've seen since "Jeremiah Johnson" came out.
