    Let's See Some Knives

    Hi All:

After seeing the Buck Knife thread being resurrected (and the interest therein), I thought it would be nice to start a new thread for us to show-off some interesting knives (without hijacking the Buck thread).

I'll kick it off with these two from the "American Wildlife Series" from Camillus IM005441CamillusAmericanWildlifeSeries.jpg

I'd enjoy seeing knives from our other members........I'll just betcha there's some neat stuff around here...........got anything interesting? Let's see.........

    Best Regards All,

    Geezer

Here's a few of my locking folders:

I try to buy 10 or 12 knives a year, whatever appeals to my eye that will fit the budget. Guns, knives, all things designed for a singular purpose, seem to, by design, have an intrinsic beauty.

    Hi Mike:

    Nice group of locking folders..........

What is the handle material on the SOG? Is that an image of something etched on the blade of the wood handle with brass bolsters?

I'm kinda like you and put maybe a dozen (or so) knives away every year (new and used, interesting stuff)...........like you, if it appeals to me and I can afford it...........been doing it for many years.

Here are a couple of more Camillus' from their "Classic Cartridge Collection". The first one is a .270, the second a 30/30 (has cartridge dimensions etched on the blade)

    Geese,

I think the American-made Camillus is a rather "under-sung" brand. They supplied many boy scouts and many GI's with some pretty dang-good options, over the years.
The brass-bolstered knife is a Buck with some rosewood (I believe), scales. The figure in the blade is the light-play on the curve-form in the shape of the blade.
The SOG scales are a grey composite/micarta-like material and have a fine, non-slippage, sort of texture.

Indeed Mike, Camillus isn't one of the high profile brands, but folks "in the know" appreciate their quality and durability.......yes, they have an impressive track record (albeit unsung).

Here's an interesting older Western fixed blade IM005446WesternFixedBlade.jpgclick image to enlarge

This is also an older S&W (pre newer off-shore import) Bowie that I've had for probably around 30 years........its too bad that a previous owner scratched it with a sharpener..........I've got a high speed buffer (Baldor), so the lite scratches can come out..........but it'll always remain a "sharpened" used knife. If I recall correctly, I think I have a second one of these put away somewhere.

    Geezer ,

I don't have many . I suppose I'm lucky that my knife "fever" broke before I got too heavily involved .

With the prices of many of the knife makers I'm afraid I would be in the poor house .

I still admire the workmanship ................... just from afar .

The smaller one is by a local GA gent named Poole , the larger is a Kershaw .

    Regards ,
    George

    Thanks Geezer ,

I fell in love w it when I first saw it .

    It is part of their Wildlife series , Commemorative Bowie knives , 15 - 20 yrs old I think . Is # 493 of 5,000 made .

    This is the Eagle #1 of 5 styles in the collection - others where a Stag , a Buffalo , a Bear and a 5th that I don't remember .

    Blade length 5" , overall 11 1/8" . I really like the brass pommel .

It has 3 tiny hairline cracks in the Rosewood on the top of the handle . Has to be just in the right light to even notice them .

    DSCN4977.jpg

I almost sent it back , but you can't get these anymore and once I had it in hand ...........well you know .

    Regards ,
    George
