Idaho wolf hunt 2012. Look at the size of these animals

Just a few of the wolves killed this year with the Idaho wolf tag. Wish I could show you a few hundred more pictures. It is just amazing how big they are. Deer, elk, and livestock killing machines. The big question you have to ask yourself is why? These massive wolves are not the native wolf that lived in our area 100 years ago. There was a reason these things where exterminated nationwide. They sure do look cuddly and cute. I wonder if our city dwelling tree hugger society that never has left a city really understands the impact of these killing machines. I wonder if a Trantasaurus-Rex (sp?) was somewhere to be had that they would want to put them back in the wild.
It's just a matter of time before one of our granola loving green peace hikers goes out on a hike and runs into a pack of these killers and becomes part of the food chain. If you are going into the Blues, Cascades, or up above Spokane hiking, game scouting, mushroom hunting, or something else you better start carrying a side arm. Can you even imagine being out by yourself and having 8 to 12 of these monsters surround you! Think about what kind of appetite a dozen of these must have and remember they are the only predator in our nation that kills for fun along with for food. The amount of animals they take are just a partial portion of what they need to eat. When elk are calving they will kill the calves just for fun after they have had all they can eat and leave the rest to rot.

    Smoke a pack a day.

    Regards,
    Gregory

    Cool

    Magnificent beasts.

These look like a species that went extinct 10,000 years ago in North America.

I think I may want a little more then just a sidearm to deal with a pack of these wolves on steroids.

    Thanks for the information.

The wolves out here are that big. This breed of wolf is not native to this area and they have no predators besides man. They're the top of the food chain. Cougars won't even mess with them because of the size of the wolf packs.
Idaho Fish & Game reported some of them scaling in a 135 Lbs and a few larger. Average size is 90-95 Lbs.
Another reason why we never go out into the forest or mountains without a sidearm.
We also need to be concerned about Cougars and Bears out here.

A critter that size ought to easily huff and puff and blow your house down.

Dang!!!! A couple years ago, we dry camped at a friends property on the St Joe River, east of St Maries a few miles and were advised to be prepared for bear. I think next time, I'll be carrying a 1911 45ACP with several extra magazines on the hip and a .357 in a tanker harness. I know the rest of the "gang" will be equally prepared.

Being from Michigan you should remember it is about the same here, except we have Gangs, Crack-Heads, and Liberal Politicians. The only difference I can see is that your Predators most likely have an Higher intelligence Factor.

Every once in a while we can hear the wolves crying and howling at night.
The Coyotes make a whole bunch more noise, but they come in closer to the village here.
I remember the first time I heard one of the wolves howl. It made the hair on my neck stand up.
It was sound I never expected, and had never heard before.

You mentioned that these Wolves are not native to the area. Do you know how they got there?

They were "implanted" by leftist tree humpers. Seems that they wanted to re-introduce wolves into Idaho and Montana. I believe Idaho has more than we do here. Last figure I heard of was that Idaho had some 850 or so and Montana around 500.

Doesn't sound like a lot, but when they end up killing 120 sheep on someone's ranch, it's a problem.

Big topic of dissention up here. Our quota was down this year and I was hoping they would just extend it indefinetly. Probably won't happen, but one can dream.

The size of some of these things is downright unbelievable. They can get close to 200 pounds - I kid you not.
