Wow those are really cool!! What do you think the average weight of one of those is?
A couple of months ago I posted some pics of the 5/8ths scale model steam traction engine my dad built a few years ago. Several people asked how big the original engines were. Below are a few pics from Mt Pleasant IA where they are getting ready for next weeks steam show.
This is the 22/70 Wood Brothers engine the model was based on.
A 25/75 Case and an under mounted Avery engine.
Another 25/75 Case and a 35/110 Case.
Couple more pics of the big 110 Case plow engine.

Those things have a great appeal for me...
Just like prop-driven airplanes, old motorcycles and cars, and old revolvers!

The 22/70 Woods is about 8 tons empty of water. The 110 Case is probably twice that.Originally Posted by Hunter

I love looking at those and the old motors at the county fair, the little steam and early engines. I figure I will never own an old car with the economy so I would like to own an old motor someday.

Don I have restored old Brittish motorcycles for over 50 years now. My favorite old nortons, and matchless. Finding the parts is half the fun.Originally Posted by DHENRY

Wow, those are just awesome! Really appreciate the pics.
Yesterday we went to Old Home Day in town. They were cooking the lobsters and corn for the chicken/lobster dinner with steam from an old highway department steamer. I have a cell phone pic somewhere. Let me see if I can dig it out.
ETA: Here they are.

U. S. debt explained...Let's say, you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood......and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceiling.
What do you think you should do?
Raise the ceiling or pump out the crap?
That`s the reason for the wide wheels and lugs. If you were to sink one, about all you could do would be to wait for the ground to dry out, get some shovels and bridge planks and start digging.Originally Posted by Hunter
