In case the electricity goes out ....

My brother in FL has a real nice automatic backup generator , but I ain't got the money for that .

Hmm , a nice lil oil lamp will have to do .

And if it's got a firearms and kick bu** theme so much the better .

I somehow ran into this small curio on line at ETSY .

It's been around the block a few times .

It's about 9" high , including the glass chimney .

I suppose if we have a power outage it can help a bit . If it was good enough for Abe ........

I just thought it was too cute to pass up . It's a bit silly but that's ................................. just me .

I dickered a bit and got it on the cheap . From a gal in Dallas , OR .
    Dallas ? Who knew ?

    Regards ,
    George

Some times as in the words of Mikhail Kalashnikov, simple is best...candles, hurricane lanterns...

I'm reminded of a news blurb several years back from NASA.

"Today it was revealed that NASA spent $78 million dollars developing a ball point pen that works in zero gravity".

The Soviet Union's solution...Russian Cosmanauts use a pencil.

I like that George, it's neat. Is the base (boot) ceramic?

Good Idea! That saves having to stow it away when not in use. I keep a glass pedestal base lamp from the thrift store, and a quart of oil, for when the lights get blown out. The substation is pretty close and when it goes, it sounds like a stick of dynamite going off in a 50 gallon drum. That is the secret signal to light 'em up!

    Geezer ,

Yep it appears that it's ceramic .

I had an oil lamp years ago but somewhere along the line it disappeared . A few moves will do that to you .

We have a couple of oil lamps around too. They throw quite a bit of light but have the habit of smoking up your walls & ceiling if you don't keep the wick trimmed. I'd try it out before you need it.

Don't need an emergency generator........I keep the camping gear handy! Last Halloween, we had an big ice storm that knocked out the power for 3 days! The flashlights and battery lanterrns, propane camp stove, a big ice chest, and canned supplies kept us comfortable and well fed. Finding gasoline was a bit of a problem, without electricity for the pumps. You had to find the gas stations with an emergency generator. Bob

Thought I would try a thrift store for another lamp. They didn't have one, but they did have a brand new home weather alert radio with battery backup, for 8.00. At least I will be able to tell when to get the lamp ready.
