In Detroit, with dwindling police resources, people are defending themselves. I bet the amount of justified shootings will fall once the perps see that people are arming themselves. Notice how the liberal rag uses the term "vigilantism"?

Is "Why did you call us?" a valid response from Police? They always arrive 'after the fact', and provide NO protection during a crime. The decision to arm themselves is valid, not only in Detroit, but everywhere. The usefulness of the Police is relavent.......only to 'investigate' a crime that has already been committed! They are of NO help.....while the crime is being committed. You are 'on your own' to provide your own defense.

I venture that very few of us live in virtual threat of invasion/robbery/death on a daily basis .

I'm thankful to live in a quiet , safe community . Relatively so ...........

The best thing to ever happen to Detroit and Oakland county is when they went from may issue, to shall issue, with their Concealed weapons licenses and gun purchase permits.
That happened roughly 10 years ago. Crime against people in Detroit has been on a slow steady decline ever since.

It's a model that Chicago and D.C could learn some valuable lessons from.

Once the BG's figured out the average citizen is probably armed, and will defend themselves, crime against a citizen began it's decline.
Detriot should consider issuing a gun to every on of it's citizens that can legally own a firearm. Then the crime rate would plummet!!!
There's still hope for the city after all.

On kind of a lighter note, the other day I stopped at a 7-11 store, it was late and I always am aware of my surroundings. There was one other car in the lot and when I looked it over I noticed it had an Illinois license plate, I thought to myself, "No Problem they can't carry" I know BG's don't follow the rules, I just kind of chuckled to myself for even thinking that.

I've talked with some of the gun shop owners here along with people that run the ranges and give CPL classes, and they are busier than ever. My wife and I got our CPL's first part of last year since we live close enough to Detroit to be concerned. It does bother me though that if you live in Oakland County (just north of Detroit) and you're involved in a justified shooting, the prosecutors seem to be on a mission to put the victims behind bars because of what they did to that poor helpless bad guy!

Intelligent life should leave Detroit so it can be reduced to glass, and then be rebuilt.
