    Smith & Wesson Holster ?

I came across what I believe is a "new old stock" S & W holster. I want to think it will fit a J frame, 2". Can anybody give me a value of this?

    Thanks Much

    Steve,
There's a huge difference on it's value in a collection, or what you may be able to sell it for.
It has little to no collectable value solely because the S&W logo is on it.

I can buy a similar Bianchi holster at nearly any sporting goods store in my area for around $45-$60, but it won't have the S&W logo on it.

S&W never made that holster. It was made by a holster supplier for them, and S&W licensed the use of their logo to the holster maker.
Having the S&W logo on it wouldn't make any difference to me on pricing at all. It's just a little bonus, knowing it has the logo on it.

Value - My guess is that it originally sold for around $70-$80. There's no doubt, it's a well made belt holster for a J-frame snub nosed revolver. If your looking for a value to sell it in a cash non-auction sale, I'd probably ask $50 for it, and be willing to adjust a little if the buyer offered a little less.
Don't forget, somebody will need to pay the $8 in shipping it thru US postal. Whether it's the buyer, or the seller, would be up to you and may be negatiable too.
To me the only value a holster has, is dependant on how I'll use it. For my daily concealed carry holster I paid a pretty good premium on it because I knew I'd be putting it thru much more uses than a holster used for range carry.
I could probably buy a similar holster on eBay for around $20-25, and quite possibly less, depending on who else would be bidding against me.

I know this didn't directly answer your question, but it's the most honest answer I can come up with.

Gearchecker, thanks VERY much for the help and info. This was in a pile of stuff given to me and I don't have a gun to fit it....................now the problem is either sell the holster or add another gun to the collection. I have a Smith Model 10 2" and it doesn't fit.

That's the spirit Steve, go out and buy a nice J-frame Smith, you have a perfect reason! I like the way you think!

Now that's the horse of a differnt color!

It's the side of the equation I haden't figured on. Now you've got to recognize, that's a very respectable holster you have there.
Any J-frame revolver will fit it well, unless it's left handed like all of mine are.
I'm inclined to believe it's better to bring another new wheelgun into the fold, over making an orphan out of that beautiful holster.
It's better to add, than to decrease.
Remember, we all love a cheerful giver. And giving that holster a newly defined purpose would please us all so much.

Do what's right, and make us proud. LOL

I agree with all the brethren! Get another revolver to put in it.....a nice S&W J frame snubbie would do just fine!
