I like the idea Geezer , but I prefer to keep a low profile .

Otherwise the BGs may come to your house FOR the guns , since you advertised !

Of course in my case Mr Kane would have a little snack ...................

Every home should have an alarm system with random locational abilities, with stairs being no problem, self arming, mobil, audible alarm, user friendly, minimal up keep, has not had a hardware update in a thousand years or so, software updates are daily but pretty easy with just a little work needed to take care of the downloads. They have a comforting factor built in and new users are added to the program by just a pat on the sensory input device and a horizontal stroke from input to output ports.

The secret to security is "layering".....alarm, video, vigilence, dogs, and guns.....not always in that order.

    Zeus , David , et al :

When I moved to my current home 7 yrs ago ( my how time flies ! ) I arranged HO insurance on the phone . The agent never inquired about pets . When I went to his office to pay later that week we were going over the paperwork , signing etc .
He paused and asked " umm , do u have any pets ? " .

I didn't think much of it and told him I had a dog , a mixed Pit . He looked a bit taken back , said XXXXXXXX doesn't insure that breed ( or Dobermans , German Sheps , Rotties , or several others ) . At that point we both agreed that I " had no pets " .

A sad sidenote - he had a grandson who a year earlier had been grabbed and pulled over a fence by a Rottweiler and incurred injuries to the face that required 125 stitches .

Kane is excessively friendly to people that we know , other dogs or strangers .......... not so much . He's def an Alpha . Took me about a year and a half before I was 100% convinced that he would NEVER hurt me , under any circumstances ( he was originally my son's dog who moved back to MD after staying w me for about a yr ) . We are best buds ...........

    Yup.....what they don't know won't hurt 'em.

The only way my dogs would hurt somebody, is if they were trespassing, or breaking and entering.....all my gates are locked, signs posted at each entrance, and the dogs are inside the house if we're not home.....if a burglar ever were to get mauled, he'd be getting the better end of the treatment, considering what I'd do to him if I caught him....at least mine would be quick.

Same goes for pools, too, with some insurance companies.....In the past, when I was a service electrician, I had gone to a home on a service call that had a BEAUTIFUL inground pool completely filled with gravel.....homeowner said it was that, or pay 2 to 3 times the normal rate.....I think I'd KEEP the pool, and find another insurance company.....

    BTW....That's a BEAUTIFUL Shepherd, Shortranger!

Thanks, Doc. She is beautiful, in body, mind, and spirit. She's big, too. 100 lbs. is exceptionally large for a female GSD, but she's all muscle and bone. When I went to the breeder's to see the puppies at 8 weeks, Taffy came over to me, curled up on my shoes, and went to sleep. She had me right then and I've been her person ever since. She's 5 now, and a better dog I've never known.

We also have a rescue APBT and we told him that he would regret it when he was putting up with Taffy's shenanigans while she was growing up, but he didn't listen. Now, she runs everything - including him.

Lost my best friend last May. She lived to 14 and LOVED kids. The neighbor kids always wanted her to babysit them. They would say"With Murphy here NOBODY could hurt us."
