Need help identifying a Lyman .58 Cal BP Rifle Any help with the value as well?

My F-I-L asked me to help him sell one of his BP rifles, but I can't find any info on it.
I'll post some pics for better identification.
This is what I know about it. I'm going to assume it's a Plains model. It was purchased in Tucson back in 1975.
    Lyman .58 caliber. 29" Barrel.
    Double set trigger.
    Percussion cap.
It has a fully adjustable rear sight set. The sights are much like a target sight on a pistol.
Any help you can give to me is greatly appreciated
    Gregory
    Here are the pics.

It looks like a Lyman PLains Rifle, not to be confused with the Great PLains Rifle which came afterwards. The PLains rifle if I recall was made to look more like a traditional hawken then the newer ones, I might be wrong as I haven't seen one in a while.

David is usually spot on! By strange coincidence, the 1975 Guns & Ammo Annual is sitting in my desk, so:"LYMAN PLAINS RIFLE Traditionally-styled Hawken-type rifle in .45 caliber. Double set triggers, European walnut stock and brass fittings. 28" barrel, overall length: 45"; weight: 8 3/4 lbs. Price: $190".

Absent the caliber difference, images agree. proportions appear to be the same.

I suppose back then .58 was attractive to shoot Minnie-balls? Gearchecker I can't speak to your area but I've kept my traditional BP guns simply because they don't sell. Everything down here is in-lined, 209'd, saboted, scoped, ad nauseum.

    Good luck.

BEAUTIFUL gun, and looks very well made. I just put a cheaper version up as a wall hanger.

I have an almost identical one that has accompanied me on several hunts. They are a fine hunting rifle but only worth around $100 around here.

It won't be sold for $100 that's for sure. Still trying to get info from Lyman on it. I know it was made in Italy by Investarms, but all the Lyman rifles have been since the late 60's. So having Investarms make it won't affect the value. One issue is most people think the .58 Cal bullets are hard to find. But I have more than 200 round ball, and 35 Minie Balls going with it. That should take care of the ammo argument. I just wish I could include the Percussion Caps, but I can't ship them without a hefty Hazmat fee. There are nearly 500 caps here, and 3 Lbs of powder I'll need to dispose of. Once we figure out the price and the rifle sells, I'll give away the Black Powder and the percussion caps I have here to somebody local.

I did end up selling it. We got $500 for it. it took 3 full listing cycles on GB.com, but eventually it found a buyer. Thanks for asking
