    Trail Guns.....

One of the best excuses for buying a new gun is the ubiquitous application of the term "Trail Gun".....

Now that the winter season is upon us, and the cross country skis are out, I'm trying to decide which of my "Trail Guns" I'm gonna carry this year....

Here's an old warrior that get's alot of use.... a PD Trade-In 66-2 that I tuned and round butted a long time ago. It's got the best DA and SA triggers I've ever done and it's a favorite! Let's see yours!

I can fully agree it has a fantastic action!

I have to admit right now I either grab my 625-6 45 colt mtn gun or my Sig 220...

The cross country skis may be out, but do you actually use them? I've seen pictures of Hemmingway the 2nd, and he has a physique similar to mine, and if I were to exert myself on cross country skis, I would be in cardiac arrest inside of a few minutes! I would more likely believe you if you said "the snowmobile(s) are out".

As for a trail gun, I use a 51 nickel loaded with shot, as the biggest thing I'm likely to encounter in the desert is a rattler or a huge scorpion.

I take this 696 in the winter almost everywhere. The becnhmade Infidel usually goes along too.

The trails where I am are all suburban, so a magnum is not my first choice. If we go to our new place in the Adirondaks, one of these or the stainless 629 will go with me. Probably the stainless.

What was that you said Ken? Sorry I was outside playing in the snow.....

Don't own an ATV or Sled..... Don't believe in them.... Unless of course it's we're going Ice Fishing.... Got that Cush? :P

Last time I drove a skimobile was 1967 and I piled that one up pretty good..... Now If I can't walk there, I can't be there.....

I do really love to cross country ski.... my anckles (both busted twice) won't let me downhill....

If you've got abs like mine, your a lucky guy....

    Re: Trail Guns.....

You've all seen my trail gun choices but here they are:

    For small game.

    For bigger game.

Don't worry Drew, I've got the "skimobile" covered too. I'm restoring the dog sled as we speak so we drag it behind with all of our dunnage.

The desert around here, for the most part, is trackless. Unless you're lookin' for illegals and, or smugglers. Or they're lookin' for you. I carry either an M1 Garand or an AR15 with a 1911A1 backup.

I'm heading out on snowshoes in the morning. That's the best of the best. Plenty of exercise and all the mobility that you need. If the wind dies down, it's the 20 gauge Canoe gun that's with me.
