It's gonna be one or the other

About a year ago I started looking at the M&P 45. I really liked the trigger pull and the accuracy and the 10 rnd mag. The gun is easy to clean and I can get a 1911 style trigger on it for a $150 bucks. This is not nessesary right now because I will be coming off a Sigma 40ve and it has a long pull on it. I did some work to the trigger so its 4lbs now but has super long travel.
I own a couple 1911's one is a LLama which is just a piece of dung and the other is a Colt that was passed down to me by my grandfater that I rarely ever shoot except to make sure it still works. I was looking at a few mid-range 1911's and found, most have problems in the begining including the S&W, Springfield, Sig etc.. I kept hearing the RIA come up and did some reseach on that as well. Most of the people that have them, love them. My big issue is, its not an American gun and the value of the gun drops to almost nothing after purchase. I could get the RIA 1911 and put around $400 into it and it would be a great gun.

My problem is I can't decide between them. I know I want a quality 45. I shoot ALOT of rounds when I go shooting (500+). I basically spend the day between my handguns, shotguns and rifles. I want the 45 for mainly home defense and a back-up weapon for when I go hunting, fishing, etc.. I am not sure if the 1911 can put up with the elements and I know the M&P 45 can. If I get the gun dirty the 1911 will have to be fully cleaned and the M&P will not. In my previous experience I have always used grease on the 1911's and just oil on the others.
I am selling one of my carbine's on Sunday and will be purchasing the other within the next week. Are there any opinions out there on which one I should go for?

If you are looking for a rugged 45 that will get the job done, not have to worry about getting it dirty for my money I would consider the M&P Series. Although I do not own an M&P 45 I do own a M&P 40c and a M&P 40 Pro-Series and have run 1,000's of rounds through each without 1 FTF, FTE, or stove-piping issue. The M&P series are very easy to field strip and clean and have not had any issues with factory or my reloaded Ammo. Again JMHO.

I would vote the M&P for the better trigger.

What do you think you should do?
Raise the ceiling or pump out the crap?
