    I agree that the 357 has more versatility and the 125 grain hollowpoint at 1450 fps is the yardstick against which all handgun self defense rounds are measured against. On the other side of the coin the 45 ACP has less recoil and muzzleblast and sends a potent self defense round down range. I feel the 1911 is better for rapid repeat shots; due to less recoil.
    I can tell you the 357 penetrated more sheets of Kevlar (about twice as many in our test) than the 45 automatic 230 grain hardball.
