I like Speer's 135 grain Short Barrel loading.
What is the latest or best factory 38 special +P ammo for the two inch snub nose? - Hank

thanks Forester, I have been hanging on to the old FBI load, but as technology moves on was wondering what was new out there, Hank.
I use Winchester 125 gr JHP +P during the warmer months. During the colder months, I change to 158 gr. LSWC +P "FBI load" for better penetration. Though I realize that there is better ammo out there...... I think it's too expensive. Dead is Dead!Bob
Besides Speer's short barrel load, I've also read good things about Buffalo Bore's loads. I'm still working on a case of Winchester 158 gr +P's that were on sale a while back.

John Luke 22:36 Romans 12:17-21 Ephesians 4:26-32 Jeremiah 17:7-11 S&W 38/357
It goes back to penetration, which is the theory behind the FBI load. It may not expand, but it will have the ability to reach vital areas. I completely understand why people would choose that.
With better designed HP's these days, the Speer short barrel is comforting to me.
Buffalo Bore 158 gr SWCHP +P. Hang on of you are using it in a 642 with the tiny (but very concealable) factory grip.
I saw some penetration tests in gelatin, that showed the FBI load will penetrate about 25". That'll go thru the the biggest hulk you'll probably run into!Bob
