    Super Vel 44

I have some old Super Vel 44 Mag Hollow points. Could some of you experts tell me:
What it the approx MV & ME out of a 6.5" barrel?
Is it safe to shoot a few rounds for deer hunting out of a 629-4 Classic?
    Thanks in advance

Boy; I havenít heard of Super-Vel for twenty years or more though I still have a box of 45ACP somewhere hereabouts. They achieved those velocities with some pretty high pressures and lite bullets. I think that it would not be advisable to risk a nice #29 though it would be unlikely to damage it. Why not take the ammo to the next gun show and get a trade. You will likely come home with a lot more ammo! For deer hunting, I should think that the weight might be a bit lite, as 280 300 grain seems more appropriate!

I just looked up and there are a number of boxes of Black Talon on top of the cabinet behind me, and those are now going at quite a premium. I reckon that I should do the same with those!

    The SUPER-VEL 44MAG 180gr JHP's did 1790 out of a 5 1/2" REDHAWK a pal had and shot like a million bucks to boot.

The 70's. Memories, memories. The Super Vel shouldn't hurt your gun at all, but if you ever run across some of the old Norma 240 gr. JLFP they loaded for rifles, with the nickle washed bullets, don't shoot it!
