CCI is good ammo for the most part.
Are you referring to CCI blazers with Aluminum casings, or Brass casings?
Aluminum is bad, Brass is good.
All of my firearms like CCI ammo.
I never use Aluminum casing CCI ammo.
New gun owner here. Looking to buy CCI Blazer ammo. They seem very cheap, it is bad to use cheap ammo in a S&W 22A (or any gun for that matter)?

My firearms are an investment on my life.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I was referring to the Brass casing.
The .22 Blazer CCI that I use has some coating on them that get your hands dirty after a while. This is an older box (brick) of Blazers, perhaps in the meantime they have quit putting that oily-waxy coating on. That's my only gripe with the ammo, other than the hands dirty aspect, the rounds shoot good.

Ken, would that also mean the gun would get more dirty than another brand of ammo?
I use that loading in several guns. I've never had a problem with it. Just clean your gun after use.

There is no reliable way to choose the ammo that a .22 pistol will like.....before you try that ammo in the gun. You just never know! I have been disappointed by semi-auto pistols not being able to function reliably with most ammo. Accuracy with different ammo is also an issue. That's why I like my S&W M-17 revolver, and will stick with revolvers in the future.
I used to like semi-auto pistols, when I had Rugers. I got rid of them (dumbarse), when I started buying S&W's. Now, I have only 1.....a Walther P22. It confirms my preferences for revolvers.Bob
I have a 22A and use Federal HP in it almost exclusively, mainly because that is what I can find the most of. All .22 ammunition is going to be dirty, some more than others but a little cleaning goes a long way even if you need to take a break at the range for the purpose. I also found that very little oil is needed on my 22A; check with the owner's manual and go with that. If your gun is new, expect it to require some breaking in to run smoothly...couple of hundred rounds maybe.
Sometimes you have to do some trial and error to find what will be the most accurate and will function reliably at the same time. I know some of what it is in mine, but it is too expensive for me to shoot on a casual basis so I stick with the cheaper stuff which functions fine and is accurate enough for my purposes. Have fun.

I was surprised when I tested CCI Blazers in my accurized 10-22. They shot as well as Wolf MT. Ony once in a while I would get a flier with the Blazer but for practice they are great.
In my 617 they work great. Good groups and 100 % reliability. I bought two cases. Then I had to give up all shooting for a few years and am just getting back into it. Finding 20 bricks of CCI to get me started again was a pleasant surprise.
