Online source for reasonably priced ammo?

Hey, y'all. Been a while. I ordered a gun online last week and should be able to pick it up probably this Thursday or Friday. It's a .45 1911 butit'snotaS&Wpleasedon'tcrucifyme.. *cough* So anyway I started looking online for some .45 ACP ammo and am not really happy with the prices I'm seeing. I picked up a box of 100 230 gr FMJ .45 ACP from Walmart for about $33 yesterday which I thought was a good price, but it's that Winchester white box stuff. Not sure how well it will do in the gun but will find out soon. So anyway the point of this post is to ask you guys if you know of a good ammo site or two I should check out to get some ammo for the gun at a reasonable price. I see Walmart normally carries a box of 250 of Remmington FMJ .45 ACP for about $90 which also looks like a good price, but every time I look for some there they are out of stock. I wonder why they don't sell ammo online? For anyone who is interested in taking a glance at a non S&W gun (and I know a lot of you guys aren't "S&W or nothing" guys), here's the gun I'm getting:

    Shag,

Good to see you back man!

    Try these guys...

    http://www.ammoman.com/index.htm

From time to time they have .45 Ball from SB, Aguilla or Fiocchi that's priced right.... check with them often as their stock changes frequently .... I have bought alot of ammo from them over the years and remember that their stuff is priced "Delivered". No extra freight charges.

    Good Luck,

Glad to see you back Shag. Figured you took another 1,000 mile trip and got lost in St. Louis I think most here have a 1911 of one brand or another {in some cases more than one} and no one should fault you for a Springfield.

I have been shooting Sellier & Bellot ammo and have had excellent results with it. I've never had a FTF with it, or any jams or stovepipes either. In my Springfield it's very consistant in POA/POI as well. Is seems to be a hotter load than the WWB and the Fiocchi I've shot. I've been told S&B loads their ammo to SAMMI full load spec. That would be a +P in most other manufacturers books. 230 Gr. FMJ is my preference. You can find it on the web easily and Cabela's carries it as stock ammo. It runs about 15% less then the Winchester white box ammo too. Just my 2 cents worth.

I've been using http://zerobullets.com/index.htm for the past 15 years or so. No issues with the ammo and the price is right when ordered by the case.

Hey Shag.....thought you lost it on the Harley!!!!! Anyway, I have never had a problem with the Winchester White box stuff in my guns.......'course for semi-auto handguns, I only have a Walther P22, and used to have a 3 Ruger semi-auto .22's . The rest are S&W revolvers, rifles and a couple of shotguns......guess I've seen the light!!!!

I don't foresee a problem with .45 ACP either, especially if you get the FMJ or RN. Walmart has good prices for me. Can't buy ammo thru the mail, in this lousy state!

You could try Dick's, when they have a sale. I think they sell Winchester, Remington, Federal and others. Should have one in the spring. Bob

I got 2 100rd boxes of 165gr. Winchester .40 fmj from Bass Pro the other day for $33 per box. Ammunitiontogo.com has some pretty decent pricing.
