Ammo size comparisons 22 Short to 50 BMG

I've taken a few of the different cartridges and set them up for a comparison in size, from my smallest to my largest.
I've placed them in order smallest to largest and labeled what they are.

For instance take Dericks 30-30 Winchester and compare it to the .223, or the big 50 to it. Once you have a baseline, it's easy to get the impact of what different ammo has going for it. You can click each photo to enlarge them.
    So here they are.

The 500 Nitro is tiny compared to the 50 BMG. The bullet in that cartridge in my photo weighs in at 600 grains. That's nearly 4 times the bullet weight of your 30-30.
The powder capacity in it is roughly 6 times that of the 30-30 as well.
It isn't for children that's for sure.

For me, I am just happy with my 30-30 and my other guns.

It's almost sad to say, I basically traded an $850 rifle, and $300 worth of ammo for it all.

Have wanted one for years but that pesky cash flow thing wouldn't allow it. Now, when I actually have some money, the Govt. doesn't want me to own one...
My biggest boy is a .338 which is a treat to shoot. Even with the Mag-na-brake I had done to it, pushing a 250 gr. out the end makes my shoulder sore just thinking about shooting it. lol

    drplvr,
Which chambering is you're .338 in?
Mine is Winchester Magnum. I was hoping to get a .338 Lapua, but that's even more spendy than the .50 BMG is.
