    Mod 19-5 ammo

Hi everyone, I've got a newbie question about ammo.
I keep hearing that using Hornady Critical Defense 125 gr .357 is bad for a Model 19.
In reality, how many rounds do you have to shoot before being concerned about a split forcing cone?
I really only plan on using these rounds for home defense, and some practice. Most ofg my practice will be with 158 gr .357 and .38 Special.
The gun shows no signs of excessive wear.
    Thanks

Limited use of the 125 grain Critical Defence rounds will not damage your 19-5. I would not recommend a steady diet of them.

Here is a good article on the subject: Use of Magnum Loads in S&W Model 19 and Other K-Frame Magnums

You will probably go broke buying ammo first.
When I was young my Mother told me I could be anyone I wanted to be. Turns out the police call that 'Identity Theft.'

Nowadays I doubt most normal folks could afford to buy enough 125 gr. critical defense ammo to even "loosen" let alone damage a M-19.

    Muchadoaboutnuttin...in my book.
