Can .22 short and long cartridges be used in a revolver stamped .22 long rifle?
Thanks, Steve

Also .22 "CB" & "BB" rounds. (Primed only).
The only real llimitation is that you can't shoot 22WRF magnums out of it.
You can shoot 22S, 22L or 22LR. If you find any 22 Longs (not LR) let me know what they look like. I've never seen one.
The demand for 22 short is very small, so there might not be much if any savings on them once you find them at your local supplier.
Up here I can buy CCI mini-mags for $4.99/100. But 22 shorts run around $2.99/50 or the same $4.99/100 for CB shorts
I like the shorts for prairie dog plinking from the back deck. They're so quiet, the neighbors don't even know I'm shooting.

Gregory-
I have several boxes of old ammunition, including .22 long and .22 short. I have a couple of rifles that can use these cartridges interchangeably, but I wasn't sure about the revolver. Here is a photo comparing the sizes:

In a revolver shorter cartridges won't hurt anything only longer ones. Shooting a 22L in a 22LR cylinder will be like shooting a .38 Special in a .357 Magnum.
