That's the same info I find on the Hodgdon site, although they're calling for a LFP. I'd imagine you should be fine. There's a thread on Cast Boolits with the same info.
trail boss and the 41 mag - Cast Boolits
I'm looking for any loading data for Trail Boss powder in a .41 magnum using 215 gr. SWC lead bullets. None of my reloading manuals list it. I have computer searched it and one entry posting listed the following trail boss loads:
215 gr. lead
start load 4.5 gr. - 752 FPS @ 13000 CUP
Max. load 6.5 gr. - 910 FPS @ 17100 CUP
Can anyone verify these loadings with the 215 gr. lead bullet?
THANKS.

Thanks LeMat, I finally found the IMR Handgun Data for Trail Boss on the web. About the only thing I ever load with the stuff are .32 S&W Long and .32-20 WCF for old pistols. Looks like around 6 gr. Trail Boss with a 215 gr. cast in the .41 should be around 900 FPS and a nice can plinking load.
There was a claim that you could fill a cartridge full to where the bullet was seated with NO compression of the powder and that it would be safe to use with Trail Boss. The little I have used it, I like it a lot.
Because without America, there is no free world.
Yesterday I tested several different loads in the S&W .41 Mag. using a 215 grain cast SWC and Trail Boss Powder in 1/2 gr. increases from min. to max. (Min. load is 4 1/2 Gr. - Max. load 1s 6 1/2 Gr.).
At 4 1/2 grains, throw rocks instead.
At 5 grains, it felt less recoil than a warm .38 Special. Easy to control.
At 5 1/2 grains the recoil wasn't bad, but the load was not as accurate as I knew the gun could do.
At 6 grains, REAL TACK DRIVER, three shot groups clover-leaf on every target. This is my selected "plinking" load. Estimated still doing well over 800 fps. Very managable to control.
At 6 1/2 grains, still less recoil than other previous tested "starting loads", but groups began to open up again.
Try the 6 gr. Trail Boss with 215 gr. cast. I think you'll like it.
I've been using 7 grains of Trailboss under a 215 grain pill from Tennessee Valley Bullets for a while now, but I am shooting it from a Ruger Blackhawk. These trailboss loads are the least accurate loads I have tried in the 41 Mag but all that means is that instead of clover-leafed groups, you might get a white space between the groups.

6 grains of trail boss works great for me with the 215 SWC in my 4" Model 57. Eats the center out. After getting it sighted in on sand bags I was able to roll cans around almost every shot from 25 yds. Also, the 215 gr. factory rounds shoot right on too, but I have to hold 6 o'clock instead of center. The lighter Trail Boss loads are a lot easier on my hands and a lot more fun to shoot. It just "rolls" back instead of the sharp "straight back" recoil pain in my hand from the hot loads.
Oh, I agree. The trailboss loads make shooting this magnum a bit easier and frankly they are very easy to load with a much wider degree of safety. You almost can not use too much powder as long as you are not compressing it. They even claim as much for loading light rifle rounds.
